Descorchados 2020: Pewën named Best Of Apalta and included in the Best Reds and Best Carmeneres14 de November de 2019
In total, 14 wines of Santa Rita received 91+ points in the guide. Casa Real Reserva Especial 2017 obtained 96 points and was included in the rankings “Best Cabernet Sauvignon” and “Best Maipo Andes”.
Santiago, November 2019. The prestigious wine guide Descorchados, written by specialized Chilean journalist Patricio Tapia, selected Santa Rita with excellent scores in its 2020 edition. The guide will be launched in December in Santiago, were it will reveal the full reviews and tasting notes on each wine.
Pewën 2018, the high-end Carmenere sourced from the Apalta vineyards and that presents a renovated image in this vintage, scored the highest among Santa Rita wines with 97 points, selected as “Best Apalta” wine. In addition, it was included in the rankings “Best Carmenere” and “Best Reds”.
Meanwhile, Casa Real Reserva Especial 2017, Santa Rita’s icon wine that comes from Alto Jahuel in the Maipo Valley, reached 96 points and was also present in the rankings “Best Maipo Andes” and “Best Cabernet Sauvignon”.
On the other hand, Triple C 2016, the blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere, reached 95 points, whereas Bougainville 2017, based in Petite Sirah from Maipo Valley obtained 92 points. Casa Real Escudo de Familia Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, also sourced in Maipo, was awarded 94 points.
The Floresta range of Santa Rita was praised in Descorchados, with Floresta Chardonnay 2019 from Limarí Valley reaching 95 points and included in the rankings “Best Limarí” and “Best Chardonnay”. Floresta Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 also achieved 95 points, while Floresta Cabernet Franc 2018 was given 92 points and entering the ranking “Best Cabernet Franc”. Also, Floresta Field Blend Blanco 2019, a blend of white grapes from Apalta, reached 91 points.
Medalla Real Gran Reserva was also awarded high scores; Medalla Real Gran Reserva Carmenere 2018 made it with 93 points and was named Revelation Wine of the guide. Besides, Medalla Real Gran Reserva Chardonnay 2019 and Medalla Real Gran Reserva Syrah 2018 also received 93 points, with Medalla Real Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2019 reaching 92 points. Lastly, Medalla Real Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 gained 91 points.
