Located in an 18th century building which was declared a Historic Monument, the restaurant of Santa Rita winery was recognized for its traditional cuisine in the Guía 100 of the La Cav Club.
Santiago, September 2019. Honoring Paula Jaraquemada herself, who gave shelter to the 120 patriots who fought for the Independence of Chile more than 200 years ago, the Doña Paula Restaurant, is located at the heart of Santa Rita. Today this house, restored in 1990 by Ricardo Claro, has become a prominent place for its gastronomy and architectural heritage.
Located less than 40 kilometers from Santiago and declared a Historic Monument in 1972, this house is characterized by its colonial style, has adobe walls with perimeter corridors, wooden pillars and tile roof. Complemented by antiques, heritage furniture and white walls that hang pictures of the Cuzco schools of Quito and Potosí, high ceilings with bamboo ceilings and various objects of the time. The gastronomical proposal of Doña Paula is a traditional Chilean and international cuisine, in a fine dining restaurant, located in the middle of the Maipo Valley with a privileged view of the vineyards.
On the Guía 100 of La Cav, an annual publication that seeks to give recognition to the best gastronomic centers of our country, the specialized gastronomic journalist Carlos Reyes, said: “It is a restaurant that pays tribute to a kitchen that was all the rage for more than a century. In that sense it is a kind of edible museum, with recipes such as fricassee fillet or rocky mountain oysters, steak in pepper sauce, assorted seafood and fish and a sweet ossobuco in merlot sauce”.
Doña Paula was chosen in the guide as one of the best winery restaurants in Chile: “The uniformed and correct service, guides along a path of generous dishes, under a selection of wines from all the vineyards that are under the Santa Rita Estates portfolio (Santa Rita, Carmen and Doña Paula). They are quite a lot and under a renovation process that matches this classic profile dining room” reads the publication.
