James Suckling awards 90+ points to 18 Santa Rita wines

After the critic’s latest visit to Chile in February 2020, all the Santa Rita wines tasted received a score of 90 points or more, consolidating the winery’s consistency across its different lines.
April, 2020.– Santa Rita has once again demonstrated the high quality of all its ranges, as James Suckling’s most recent scores show. His Chile Report “Chile’s value offering is established – but is there more room for greatness?” gave Casa Real Reserva Especial 2017 a score of 94, highlighting its “Delicious blackcurrants and plums with light, subtle chocolate and hazelnuts”.
Likewise, Pewën de Apalta 2018 received 93 points, mentioning its “Blueberries and raspberries with hints of citrus and chocolate. Medium to full body. Flavorful finish. The tannins are soft and attractive”. On the other hand, Triple C 2016 was awarded a score of 92, pointing out its “very racy fruit core, complemented by grilled spices and dark chocolate. There is nice, oak spiciness on the palate with healthy black fruit in the middle, coated by a plethora of fine-grained tannin”. Bougainville 2017 obtained 91 points, with its “smooth, big, soft and round tannins and riper plum-paste flavors at the finish”, wrote the review.
The Floresta range also received high scores; Floresta Carmenere 2018 achieved 93 points, “Shows brightness and focus. Energetic”. Floresta Cabernet Franc 2018, Floresta Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 and Floresta Chardonnay 2019 all received 91 points.
In addition, the Medalla Real line was also praised; Medalla Real Gran Reserva Syrah 2018 obtained 94 points: “This is excellent with so much smoked-meat and plum character, as well as spices, such as cloves”. Medalla Real Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Medalla Real Gran Reserva Carmenere 2018 and Medalla Real Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2019 received 91 points, while Medalla Real Gran Reserva Chardonnay 2019 achieved 90 points. Meanwhile, Medalla Real Gold Medal 2017 was awarded 91 points.
Lastly, Secret Reserve wines included 93 points for Secret Reserve Camenere 2018, commenting on its “Intense blueberry and gun-flint aromas with hints of slate and stone. Full body, firm and creamy tannins and a flavorful finish”. Secret Reserve Pinot Noir 2018, Secret Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2019 and Secret Reserve Red Blend 2018 were all awarded 90 points.
