The exclusive event is part of the activities carried out under the official partnership between Santa Rita’s 120 brand and Arsenal FC, inviting members of the wine industry to an exciting full-day activity at Emirates Stadium.
London, May 2019.- Fast gaining traction as one of the wine trade invitations of the year, this annual event – the ‘Santa Rita 120 Arsenal Experience’ took place in the hallowed ground of the Emirates Stadium on Friday 10th May.
Santa Rita guests from the UK, Irish, Dutch and Chilean on-trade, off-trade and press along with representatives from UK and Irish distributors: Matthew Clark, Bibendum-PLB and Gilbey’s, were welcomed to the Emirates stadium. The day ‘kicked- off’ with a meet and greet followed by a Q&A session from Arsenal Legend Lee Dixon.
A tour of the ground hosted by Legends Charlie George and Perry Groves preceded the main event of the day: a 5-a-side tournament for the Santa Rita 120 Cup. Over 60 players making up 8 teams each sporting a personalised Arsenal home strip emerged from the tunnel onto the Arsenal pitch for a warmup session hosted by ‘The Invincibles Team’ Legend Robert Pires, aided by Lee Dixon. The initial rounds commenced with 8-minute games, with Legends Pires and Dixon slipping in to play with teams throughout the competition, which culminated in a final between Team Bergkamp (Matthew Clark) and Team Wright (Bibendum-PLB), with the latter claiming a hard-fought victory. Winning team Bibendum –PLB.
The teams then headed upstairs to the prestigious Diamond Club, the private members club with restaurant overseen by Raymond Blanc. Santa Rita Estates wines 120, Medalla Real and Floresta were tasted, and awards given out, with Woman of the Match earned by a very deserving Clio Giudici (Bibendum PLB – Team Wright) and Goalie of the Match going to an ecstatic Alex Layton of Decanter Magazine who played for the Press team.
