The Maipo Cab surpassed all other Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile in the world’s largest wine community.
June 2020.– The sixth edition of Vivino’s Wine Style Awards recognized the world’s best wines, chosen by the largest global wine community and determined solely by wine drinkers, not critics.
On this occasion, Casa Real Reserva Especial 2015 received the highest average score among all Chilean Cabernet Sauvignons, with an overall of 4.7 over 5.0. The ranking, which placed Casa Real as the number two Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile, is based on the ratings Vivino users give to each wine. The “wine styles” or categories were selected by popularity, and to qualify, wines must have received a minimum of 50 ratings from the users in 2019.
Produced only on the finest vintages by winemaker Sebastián Labbé, Casa Real Reserva Especial 2015 is sourced from 50-year-old vineyards located in Santa Rita’s Alto Jahuel estate, in the Maipo Alto Valley. With a history of 30 years, Casa Real’s first vintage, 1989, received the prestigious “Wine Legend” title by Decanter magazine, being the first South American wine to achieve the accolade.
Vivino is the world’s largest online wine marketplace and the most downloaded wine app. It has over 44 million users covering more than 12 million wines.
