Santa Rita celebrates National Wine Day with 5,000 people10 de September de 2019
Tours and guided visits, crafts, folclore shows, a warehouse wine sale and exclusive wine tastings were some of the activities enjoyed by the attendees.
Santiago, September 1st, 2019. To officially welcome the Chilean month, Santa Rita celebrated this Sunday September 1st the National Wine Day, which was established in 2015 to commemorate the date that Conquistador Pedro de Valdivia wrote to Spanish Monarch Charles V asking for vines and wine to evangelize the new world.
Around 5,000 people visited Santa Rita, enjoying free tours of the historical cellars as well as guided visits to the Museo Andino, which exhibits archeological and ethnographic collections of over 3,000 pieces of pre-Columbian people that inhabited Chile.
“Once again we can host this wonderful celebration, opening our doors to the community. Santa Rita is a patrimony that belongs to us all, and we are very proud of being able to celebrate National Wine Day with all of you”, pointed out Baltazar Sánchez, Chairman of Santa Rita.
Claudio Salinas, member of the Council of the Municipality of Buin, also commented during the inauguration: “This activity is of huge value to the community, representing a heritage not only for Buin, but for the whole country. We will continue working together to elevate this patrimony”.
During the celebrations, people were able to enjoy Santa Rita and Carmen wines tastings, with special places for the latest releases canned wines Rita Rosé and Rita Blanc. There was also a separate tasting spot for ultra premium wines. On the other hand, local craftswomen and men displayed their products, including embroidery, knitting, the typical gastronomy of the area and wine-derived products. Folkloric shows with local dances and music, food trucks and puppet shows for the children made the day into a unique festivity for the whole family.
