After an extensive blind tasting, Viña Santa Rita wines were positioned among the “most brilliant reds” in the country, according to this renowned British magazine.
The leading British magazine The Drinks Business tasted 56 labels to choose Chile’s 10 best Carmenere. On the occasion, two wines from Viña Santa Rita, Floresta Carmenere 2020 and Pewën de Apalta 2018, were positioned in this select ranking and were described as “most brilliant reds”, reaching 92 and 95 points, respectively.
“Floresta Carmenere 2020 is a deep colored wine with lots of intense fruit such as blackberry, blueberry and raspberry. It is ripe and concentrated, but at the same time has a moderate alcohol level of 13,8% by Colchagua standards and bright acidity”, wrote The Drinks Business.
From the heart of the Apalta Valley, this wine has a different aromatic complexity, with mineral touches and soft spicy notes. It has a medium concentration that will deliver a long evolution over time.
Another wine included in Chile’s 10 best Carmenere ranking and qualified as “exceptional” was Pewën de Apalta 2018. It comes from the Apalta piedmont, considered one of the best wine valleys for the production of this grape variety in the country. It is a mature and elegant wine that seeks to position this variety among the best of the world.
A total of 28 Chilean wineries participated and had to submit only two labels for tasting, all of which were blind tasted and evaluated by experts in August 2022.
