The prestigious magazine praised the quality and diversity of four wines from the Chilean winery, including the Triple C blend and the innovative Floresta line.
In its most recent edition, Wine Enthusiast awarded outstanding scores to four wines from Viña Santa Rita, highlighting labels that are part of its most distinctive portfolio and reflect the diversity of Chile’s winegrowing valleys.
Triple C 2022 received 92 points. This wine from Alto Maipo is a Chilean reinterpretation of the classic Bordeaux blend, combining Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a touch of Carmenère, which adds freshness and a spicy character.
“This structured blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère exhibits aromas of licorice and ground black pepper. A balanced mix of raspberries, thyme and smoky notes lights up on the palate. It’s smooth, with firm tannins and a pleasant leafy finish,” noted reviewer Jesica Vargas.
Three wines from the Floresta line were also awarded 91 points. This minimally intervened range offers a fresh take on classic varieties, with a more experimental approach rooted in origin.
From the Limarí Valley, Floresta Chardonnay 2023 showcases the elegance and minerality of the north’s calcareous soils:
“This crisp Chardonnay opens with a bouquet of vanilla and grapefruit. The palate reveals greater complexity, offering subtle oak spices, white peach and a touch of honeysuckle. Bright acidity lends freshness, leading to an enjoyable leafy and citrus finish,” commented Vargas for South America.
Floresta Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, from the hills of Alto Jahuel in Maipo, offers a fresh, high-altitude expression of this emblematic variety:
“The Floresta wines present a modern perspective on classic expressions from Chile’s diverse valleys. This Cabernet, sourced from the winery’s Alto Jahuel vineyard in the Maipo Valley, offers enticing aromas of cherries and floral notes. A mix of black- and red-fruit flavors is supported by gripping tannins and refreshing acidity, making it a versatile pairing for an array of dishes,” Vargas noted.
Finally, Floresta Carmenère 2023, sourced from old dry-farmed vineyards in Apalta, delivers a vibrant and balanced expression of this grape rediscovered in Chile:
“This wine highlights the fresh character of Carmenère, beginning with vibrant cranberry aromas on the nose. The textured palate offers balanced berry flavors accented by subtle leafy notes,” said Jesica Vargas.
These recognitions reaffirm Viña Santa Rita’s ongoing commitment to crafting wines with identity—wines that combine origin and character.
