Marcelo Copello awards 96 points to Casa Real 201720 de March de 2020
The recognized Brazilian critic visited Santa Rita and held an exclusive vertical tasting of its icon wine, praising the 1995 vintage with 98 points and highlighting the current vintage of Casa Real Reserva Especial with 96 points.
Santiago, March 2020.- With a career of more than 30 years, Marcelo Copello is one of the most relevant Brazilian voices in the wine industry. Earlier this year, he travelled to Chile to visit several wineries, opportunity in which he met with winemaker Sebastián Labbé at Hotel Casa Real of Santa Rita.
A declared fan of Casa Real Reserva Especial since its beginnings, the critic tasted three vintages of the icon wine, of which he especially singled the 1995 vintage with outstanding 98 points. This was followed by the current vintage, 2017, with 96 points, naming it “Best Cabernet Sauvignon” of his Chile Report. In addition, he awarded 94 points to the 2004 vintage.
Likewise, Copello named Bougainville 2017 as the “Best Other Red Varieties”, with 95 points, while Pewën de Apalta 2018 received 94 points. Triple C 2013 reached 93 points.
On the other hand, the Floresta range was highlighted with 94 points for Floresta Field Blend Blanco 2017, naming it “Best White Other Varieties”. He also awarded 93 points to Floresta Chardonnay 2018 and Floresta Cabernet Franc 2018, with Floresta Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 receiving 92 points.
Lastly, Medalla Real Gran Reserva Chardonnay 2019 obtained 90 points.
