21 de August de 2024Organized by Brinca, the Business School of the Adolfo Ibáñez University, and El Mercurio, the winery achieved first place in the “Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing” category. This ranking evaluates the commitments and results of large companies concerning Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors. In its second edition, the ranking assessed the 70 largest companies in the country’s strategic industries that report integrated information to the Financial Market Commission (FMC), evaluating 38 ESG indicators.
The 2024 Corporate Sustainability Ranking awarded this recognition to the Chilean winery for its commitment to sustainable practices and social responsibility. With 91% of its waste being recycled, reused, or composted, the winery has established itself as a benchmark in initiatives that have a positive impact on the ecosystem.
“For Santa Rita, sustainability is the only way to develop and remain in the wine business. It is at the center of all our decisions and comprehensively encompasses environmental, social and economic aspects,” said Javier Bitar Hirmas, CEO of the winery.
This ranking is based on the AGS Brinca-UAI model, which recognizes companies that have integrated sustainability into the core of their strategy, emphasizing their contribution to social and economic development. It evaluates the top companies across nine industries that report in an integrated manner to the Financial Market Commission (CMF): Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; Food; Commerce and Entertainment; Finance and Insurance; Manufacturing; Mining and Energy; Public and Social Services; Transportation, Logistics, and Telecommunications.
Viña Santa Rita views sustainability as the convergence between being environmentally friendly, socially equitable and economically viable, definition established in the 1987 United Nations Brudtland Convention. Building on this, the winery develops different projects to improve its sustainability practices throughout all processes, from vineyards and cellars to commercialization, involving suppliers, employees, their families, and the communities.
